Coral Power Trace-A is a mixture of strontium (50,000 ppm) and barium. Strontium in natural seawater is on the order of 8-10 ppm. It is advisable to keep strontium at this level and not outside the range of 5-15 ppm. Anecdotal evidence has shown that strontium below 5 ppm in the marine aquarium is detrimental to coral growth.
For advanced aquarists, strontium levels in marine tanks should be checked regularly to determine absorption into your system. Estimate strontium usage through regular testing, then simply calculate dosing requirements to accommodate depletion rate. Then continue to monitor strontium levels every week or two.
Dosage: It is recommended to dose 1 drop (0.05ml)/day for every 100L of water in the tank. If the results are good and depending on the density of the coral in your tank, you can gradually increase to 2-3 drops (0.1-0.15 ml)/day over a period of a month or so. Do not dose more than 4 drops (0.2 ml)/day per 100 l of water in a heavily supplied system.
For the advanced hobbyist, 0.1 ml (2 drops) will increase strontium levels by 0.05 ppm (mg/L) per 100 L of tank water. If you know the rate of strontium depletion, dose accordingly as above.
See Manual Dosing for more detailed dosing information.
